THE TWO HUNDRED’S 2019 RETREAT

On July 17, 2019, The Two Hundred held its Leadership Council retreat to discuss 2020 goals and objectives. In attendance were members of the Leadership Council from across the state as well as guest speaker Denise Pinkston, of TMG Partners. Denise presented a lively discussion on the legislative and advocacy history of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and the impact they can have on housing supply if we remove barriers.

On Friday, February 8th, the Two Hundred premiered our newest original video, The Legacy of Redlining – a video that shows the current impact of decades of government redlining on communities of color.


STUDENT HOMEOWNERSHIP CONFERENCE

On November 28th on the UCB campus The Two Hundred held its homeownership conferences for students. The Two Hundred (The 200) began conducting workshops on university campuses as part of its community education and outreach program. The aim is to educate and recruit students to The 200 coalition from around the state as they are the future workforce that will carry the burden of funding the entitlements of retiring baby boomers.

California Community Builders partnered with California YIMBYS (Yes In My Backyard) and held a conference in the Multicultural Community Center at UC Berkeley on October 26th, 2018.

The Two Hundred held its Leadership Council retreat on setting the 2019 goals and objectives. Two of California’s major legislative housing advocates, Senator Scott Wiener and Assemblymember David Chiu, attended the meeting and expressed willingness to work together on 2019 legislation that addresses housing and homeownership supply.


GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES FORUM

California Community Builders hosted a Gubernatorial Candidates Forum on housing and homeownership on January 25, 2018 at the City Club in Los Angeles. 200 community leaders heard directly from the candidates what plans and ideas they have to address the housing crisis endangering California’s future economy.


CONFERENCE SERIES: REBUILDING WEALTH THROUGH HOMEOWNERSHIP

The Two Hundred hosted a series of conferences from 2016-2017 titled Rebuilding Wealth Through Homeownership. The purpose of these conferences was to have an educational discussion on the current policy and economic factors affecting homeownership for low income communities of color and the methods and strategies need to employ to address this serious problem. There was no charge for participating in the conference and lunch was provided.
