ADVOCACY & LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

Housing

First-Time Home Buyer Plan: It is time for the California Statewide Housing Plan to acknowledge the importance of homeownership, especially for first-time home buyers disproportionately impacted by California’s ongoing housing crisis. Related Legislation: AB 1508

Urban Infill Townhomes & Condos: California needs affordably-priced townhomes and condominiums near job centers by fast-tracking new construction development.

Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT): Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) is a misguided regulation that adds $50,000- $1,000,000 to the cost of homes in some of the last affordable areas in California. It is imperative this tax on low- and moderate-income homebuyers is repealed.

ENERGY

Diverse Energy Sources: Mandated conversion of gas appliances to electricity creates an unfair financial burden for owners and renters and should be reconsidered.

TRANSPORTATION

Alternative Diesel Fuel: Incentives and implementation of renewable natural gas — which is 98% cleaner than diesel — for fleets of buses and commercial trucks are needed ASAP.

Reliable & Affordable Vehicles: The California legislature, California Supreme Court, and United States Supreme Court have all upheld this right to fair access to reliable, affordable passenger vehicles. Unfortunately, current zero emissions plans in California violate this civil right and thus must be addressed.

WATER

Supply: It is time to provide clean and affordable water for all Californians and to enhance funding for increasing water sub-surface, surface storage, and new desalinization treatment.

Conveyance: Legislation and funding is needed for improved water conveyance infrastructure.
